Depending on the application, the material used in weighing machines varies. The pharmaceutical and jewelry industries use weighing scales that should be small and portable, with a plastic body and a glass coating.
To resist corrosion, grocery store weighing machines have a plastic or metal body. Weighing machines for several hundred kilograms, such as those used in steel trading shops and bulk weights applications, have a full metal body construction, with steel or iron panels on both the weighing platforms and the bottom frames to avoid breakage and damage.
